UNS S31803 duplex stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance, including:
Resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion: Increased chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content improves the material’s resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
Resistance to stress corrosion cracking: The duplex structure enables it to exhibit excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chloride and sulfide environments.
Resistance to uniform corrosion: Good corrosion resistance in both acidic and alkaline environments.

ASTM A790 UNS S31803 Seamless Stainless Steel Pipe Description

ASTM A790 UNS S31803 pipe is a high-performance duplex stainless steel seamless pipe that combines the advantages of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, with excellent corrosion resistance, high strength and good processing performance. ASTM A790 is a standard developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) specifically for the manufacture, inspection and acceptance of ferritic-austenitic (duplex) stainless steel seamless and welded pipes. UNS S31803 is a specific grade under this standard, also known as SAF 2205 or 1.4462, and is a widely used duplex stainless steel.

ASTM A790 UNS S31803 Seamless Stainless Steel Pipe Manufacturing Process

The manufacturing process of ASTM A790 UNS S31803 pipes includes the following steps:
Raw material preparation: Select duplex stainless steel billets that meet the standards.
Heating: Heat the billet to a suitable temperature.
Piercing: Use a piercer to make the billet into a hollow rough tube.
Cold drawing or hot rolling: The rough tube is processed to the required size and wall thickness through cold drawing or hot rolling.
Heat treatment: Usually solution treatment is performed to optimize the structure and properties of the material.
