321 stainless steel pipe is a titanium stabilized austenitic stainless steel with excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion and high temperature oxidation resistance. Due to its unique chemical composition and mechanical properties, 321 stainless steel pipe is widely used in many applications that require high temperature strength and corrosion resistance.
Main standards and grades:
American (ASTM) standards: ASTM A213, ASTM A312, ASTM A240Grade: 321
European (EN) standards: EN 10088-2, EN 10216-5Grade: 1.4541
Japanese (JIS) standards: JIS G3459, JIS G4304Grade: SUS 321
Chinese (GB/T) standards: GB/T 3280, GB/T 4237Grade: 0Cr18Ni10Ti

321 stainless steel pipe is a steel pipe made of 321 stainless steel material, which has a variety of excellent properties and a wide range of applications. The following is a detailed introduction to 321 stainless steel pipe:
Main features of 321 stainless steel pipe:
Intergranular corrosion resistance: Due to the addition of titanium, 321 stainless steel has excellent intergranular corrosion resistance in high temperature environments, especially in the temperature range of 600-800°C.
High temperature performance: 321 stainless steel maintains good strength and oxidation resistance in high temperature environments, suitable for working temperatures up to 900°C.
Mechanical properties: It has high tensile strength and yield strength, as well as good ductility and toughness.
Welding performance: 321 stainless steel has good welding performance and is suitable for most welding methods, and no heat treatment is required after welding.
Forming performance: It is easy to process and form, suitable for cold processing and hot processing.
The production process of 321 stainless steel pipe mainly includes the following steps:
Smelting: Use high-purity raw materials for smelting to ensure that the impurities and gas content in the molten steel meet the standard requirements.
Hot rolling or cold rolling: The stainless steel material is processed into a steel pipe by hot rolling or cold rolling process. Hot rolling is suitable for the manufacture of parts with large size, complex shape or high strength requirements, while cold rolling is suitable for the manufacture of parts that require higher precision, better surface quality and dimensional stability.
Heat treatment: The steel pipe is subjected to solution treatment, quenching and aging treatment to improve its structure and performance. Solution treatment can eliminate non-metallic inclusions in the steel pipe and improve its corrosion resistance and plasticity; quenching can improve its hardness and strength; aging treatment can further improve its strength and corrosion resistance while maintaining a certain plasticity and toughness.
Surface treatment: The surface of the steel pipe is polished, sandblasted, etc. to remove surface defects and oxides and improve the aesthetics and corrosion resistance of the product.
The main chemical composition of 321 stainless steel is as follows:
Chromium (Cr): 17-19%
Nickel (Ni): 9-12%
Titanium (Ti): ≥ 5×C% (0.2% – 0.8%)
Carbon (C): ≤ 0.08%
Manganese (Mn): ≤ 2%
Silicon (Si): ≤ 0.75%
Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.045%
Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.03%
Iron (Fe): Balance
The mechanical properties of 321 stainless steel are as follows:
Tensile Strength: ≥ 515 MPa
Yield Strength: ≥ 205 MPa
Elongation: ≥ 40%
Hardness:
Brinell hardness (HB): ≤ 217
Vickers hardness (HV): ≤ 230
Rockwell hardness (HRB): ≤ 95
Due to its excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion and high temperature performance, 321 stainless steel pipes are widely used in the following fields:
Aviation and aerospace industry: used to manufacture engine components and exhaust systems working in high temperature environments.
Chemical and petrochemical industries: used for pipes, heat exchangers and equipment for conveying high temperature corrosive media.
Petroleum industry: used for high temperature equipment and pipelines in refineries.
Electric power industry: used for high temperature equipment such as boilers, superheaters and heat exchangers.
Food and pharmaceutical industries: used for equipment and pipelines that require high cleanliness and corrosion resistance.
Architecture and decoration: used for building exterior walls, railings and other decorative parts in high temperature environments.
